An ancient farmhouse
“I Gelsi” farmhouse (with Bed and Breakfast formula) is situated inside an ancient farmstead
belonging to the XVII century which has been renovated.
It is right in the heart of a natural park in Montevecchia, exactly in the Valle del Curone (Brianza). Here you can enjoy walking,
cycling or riding (there are riding tracks in 200meters distance) in this gorgeous area.
Our farmstead dates back to the XVII century; its renovation (which, by the way, hasn't
been finished yet) kept all of its original characteristics, adding just the modern comfort.
We couldn't be able to put a private bathroom in every room, due to the fact that we
tryied to keep the original architacture as much as possible. We also decided not to install an air conditioning system seen that the thickness of the walls, the direction of the
house, the well isolated roof and the double glazing are enough to grant a sensation of freshness even during the hottest months of the year, not to mention the available fans for the
guests. During the cold months, the heater works together with the fireplaces placed all around and the stoves, to make you feel comfortable all year round.
The gardens all around
the farmstead offer a very relaxing view depending on the season, they're always different and spectacular.
In our agricultural firm, which actually is not very big, we
biologically cultivate vegetables, fruits and herbs. Between our fruits you can easily find traditioinal strawberries, raspberries, currants, blackberries, together with a big variety of
apples, pears, cherries, figs all coming from our area or the fields next to us, which are all findings of a past civilization.
You will find our cookery very traditional, with our
lovely breakfast made of our particular products. On request, we can also make dinner for you, giving you the chance to know our typical dishes, either from our location or Lombardy in
general.
